2023年に一度、限られた形でのみ公開された「祇園・夜」。当時は四角型およびハードケースに限定された展開でしたが、今回、満を持して全シリーズでの展開となります。本作は、日本三大祭のひとつである京都・祇園祭を題材とし、その中でも“夜”という時間に焦点を当てた作品です。左三つ巴（ひだりみっつともえ）の家紋を思わせる被写体を煌びやかにアレンジしてフラクタルに。昼間の賑わいとは異なり、夜の祇園は、静けさと熱気が同居する独特の空気に包まれます。提灯の灯り、店先の光、人の気配。それらが交錯しながら、やがて終わりへと向かう祭りの時間は、どこか儚く、そして美しく、深く印象に残ります。本作では、その“終わりゆく美しさ”を視覚的に捉えるため、黒と金を基調とした構成を採用。闇の中に浮かび上がる光、そして光によって際立つ闇。相反する要素が重なり合うことで、祇園の夜が持つ奥行きと余韻を表現しています。また、旧作である「志淵」からの系譜を引き継ぎつつ、柄の精度と密度を大きく見直しました。細部の繊細さ、構造の重なり、光の層の表現を再構築することで、より緻密で深みのあるビジュアルへと進化しています。華やかさの裏側にある静けさ。賑わいの奥に潜むもうひとつの京都の表情。本作は、祇園祭の“もう一つの顔”を描き出すことを目的とした和柄作品です。

First released in a limited form in 2023, Gion – Night was originally available only in square and hard case formats. Now, it returns—fully realized across the entire series. This work draws inspiration from the Gion Matsuri in Kyoto, one of Japan’s three great festivals, with a focus on the atmosphere of night. At its core, the design reinterprets a motif reminiscent of the traditional Hidari Mitsudomoe crest, transforming it into a radiant fractal composition. Unlike the vibrant energy of the day, the Gion district at night is enveloped in a unique atmosphere where stillness and intensity coexist. The glow of lanterns, the light spilling from storefronts, and the subtle presence of people moving through the streets— these elements intertwine as the festival gradually approaches its end, leaving behind a fleeting yet deeply resonant impression. To capture this sense of “fading beauty,” the composition is built upon a foundation of black and gold. Light emerges from darkness, while darkness gains depth through light. Through this interplay of opposing elements, the piece expresses the layered atmosphere and lingering resonance of Gion at night. While inheriting its lineage from the earlier work Shien, this piece revisits and refines the intricacy and density of its patterns. The delicacy of detail, the layering of structure, and the rendering of light have been carefully reconstructed, resulting in a more intricate and immersive visual expression. The stillness behind the brilliance, the hidden face of Kyoto beneath its liveliness— this work seeks to capture another dimension of the Gion Matsuri, expressed through the language of pattern and light.
